 Printers for a small business:

1) HP Officejet D135 Multifunction Printer
Fast printing speed (19 ppm black/16 ppm color) and copying speed (18 cpm black, up to 16 cpm color) combined with 33 Kbps faxing and up to 100 pages of fax memory would be enough to make this printer a winner. But it also has the capability of photo-quality printing, copying, and scanning, and you can scan and copy multi-page documents easily with the automatic document feeder.

2) Canon MultiPASS F50 All-In-One
This multifunction machine also has a built-in automatic document feeder, and prints, copies, and faxes quickly (print speed up to 17 ppm in black and 12 ppm in color; copy speed up to 17 cpm and up to 10 cpm in color). Documents and photos can be scanned at 9600 dpi in 36-bit color, and the built-in color fax features speed dial and a large memory (approx. 270 pages).

3) Brother MFC-9200C InkJet Multifunction Printer
This one also has an automatic document feeder, and a flatbed scanner with up to 1200x1200 dpi color scanning. It copies or prints up to 12 ppm in color (14 ppm black and white), which is a little slower, and the integrated fax modem is only 14.4 Kbps. It's still a good buy for the price, though, and has a video capture device that not all multifunction machines offer.

Printers for a large business

 1) Brother MFC-8500 Laser Multifunction
This laser multifunction printer provides a lot of functions for the price, including an automatic document feeder, a 14.4 Kbps high-speed fax modem with up to 116 auto dial locations and memory storage of up to 270 pages, and fast printing and copying (up to 15 pages or copies per minute).

2) HP LaserJet 3320mfp Multifunction
At a slightly higher price, you get additional features, such as color scanning, higher resolution monochrome printing, and 32 MB of memory. The print and copy speeds don't change much, though (14 ppm and 13 cpm). Note that this is a printer/copier/scanner; there is no fax. However, if you need print speed and quality, this is a good choice.

3)  Brother MFC-9700 Laser Multifunction Printer
The MFC-9700 has good print and copy speed (15 ppm or cpm), a full-feature fax, and a flatbed scanner, which I prefer. The difference between this and the HP Laser Jet 3320 is one of resolution and memory; this one has a print resolution of 600x2400 dpi and 8 MB memory.
